Trains, Planes, and Automobiles” is a classic comedy that comes to television around the holidays. The story is about a successful businessman who is trying to get from New York to Chicago to be with his family. His travel plans from the very beginning are attacked by almost every conceivable problem.

To further challenge his patience he is thrown into an unwanted relationship with a fellow traveler. Together they experience a string of exasperating experiences that leave them penniless, unwashed, extremely frustrated, and riding in the back of a refrigerated truck. When he finally comes through the door of his home everyone can see why he made every effort to get home: loving wife, kids, mom and dad and rest.

When we want something badly enough we will make every effort to make it happen. God has a rest for us here and now, as well as the one in eternity. “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matt. 11:28).
