Matthew 23:23-39

Jesus was angry for the right reason, not a personal or selfish reason. He knew the people were misinformed, misled, and mistaken. The Pharisees and teachers of the Law were careful about outward appearance, but neglected matters of the heart. Image was everything to them. One of the most sobering verses in the Bible is Matthew 7:21. “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven.” It is possible to be so self-deceived that we think we are right with God when we really are not.

Circumstances can result in angry feelings toward family, friends, or even God. You may have suffered a setback, lost your job, been misunderstood or even abandoned. In such times, we must always remember that Jesus is the answer to our anger. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever!
