Joshua, challenged the people to lace up their sandals, take up their swords, and pick up their spears. There was a river to be crossed, a battle to be fought, and a land to possess. The moment they had spent 40 years preparing for had arrived. It was now or never! Their positive response was critical to the success of the mission.
We sense the Lord’s call to action in the contemporary observation, “Eighty percent of high school seniors drift away from our churches following their graduation, the chances of children finding God after their 12th birthday are miniscule, and there are hurting and broken people all around us.” Will we dismiss God’s call with a shrug of our shoulders? Or like the children of Israel, will we set our personal agenda aside and respond to His call with “whatever you have commanded us we will do, and wherever you send us we will go”?
