Philippians 3:8-14.

Some things require a certain amount of innate talent. Some people are born athletes, scientists, or explorers. It’s in their DNA. Some people will never make it to the NFL, NBA, or MLB. No matter how hard they work, they lack an innate ability.

When it comes to following Jesus, there’s no innate ability required. We all have the same opportunity to accept the gift of Jesus and be changed by His power. No amount of hard work or talent can make us right with God. We must simply have faith and trust in Jesus. As we put our faith in Jesus, we can trust that He will make us who He wants us to be. As we daily surrender and accept His gift, we must press on in our desire to know God more and be ever willing to continue being transformed by God’s grace in Jesus.

What hope we are given in Jesus! Though we may lack the innate ability or talents to attain perfection, God in Jesus through the power of the Holy Spirit is at work in us, guiding us into perfection as we choose Him.
