What Can I Do?

February 11th, 2026

Romans 12:1-8.

Several years ago, there was a death in my family. Our family was gathered together a few days before the funeral. At one point, there was a knock on the door. A husband and wife from one of the church’s Sunday School classes was at the door with a plate of food. They came in, placed the food on the table, and sat down on the couch. They said very little, and after about 15-20 minutes, they left.

Doesn’t really sound like much, but that moment is etched in my mind. Why? I really don’t know what gifts and abilities they did or didn’t have, but I knew they were being the hands and feet of Christ.

We often think we have nothing of significance to offer. We may be introverted, or lacking in musical talent, or unable to speak eloquently, or . . . . However, God doesn’t call us to use what we don’t have but calls us to use what He has given us—whatever that may be.

Think about what you have to offer (gifts, abilities, talents) to the kingdom of God today. What can you do? It may be preaching to a crowd of thousands, or it may be just sitting on a couch giving support to a grieving family.
