Abide In Christ

January 2nd, 2026

John 15:1-8.

There is something uniquely peaceful about being at home, safe and warm, perhaps with family and friends around you. While some derive a great deal of energy from being out and about in the world, taking on new projects or perhaps exploring new places, every person can relate to that feeling of being connected to a special place or a group of people that just feels like home.

Jesus’ instructions in our passage today invite us to inhabit that same mentality when we abide in His presence. When we remain in Jesus, He remains in us. While our call to abide with Jesus might not mean a literal physical location (and in fact may take us to faraway places!), we know that this invitation means abiding in Him through the Spirit in every situation.

And the best part of all, when we are faithful to abide, we are told that we will bear much fruit, all for the glory of the Father. Our faithful residing in Jesus is not a sign of apathy or negligence but is the very thing that bears fruit for the kingdom of God. Our contentment in Jesus produces great things to our Heavenly Father’s glory.
