Shine Like Stars
December 30th, 2025
Philippians 2:12-18.
Imagine if you will that you have found yourself hundreds of miles from the nearest big city. There is no light pollution from large buildings, neighborhoods, or traffic. As the sun sets, the first stars begin to spring into view. As the dark deepens on a clear moonless night, more and more points of light spring into view, eventually leading to a sky full of light.
For many of us, such a picture can only be imagined, as we live in areas where the observable stars in the night sky are only those bright enough to be seen through an atmosphere clouded by the artificial light produced on earth. Although there are still places where the true night sky is visible, it takes great effort to really see the sky as Paul would have imagined in his letter to the Philippians.
However, our call to shine like stars only becomes more relevant given our contemporary reality. In a world filled with noise and falsehood, we are called to shine through with God’s real love. When we work to maintain a blameless and pure testimony, we can shine on all the world.
