Isaiah 64:1-6.

Abraham and Sarah were told they were going to have a son, and Isaac showed up 25 years later! Joseph was under the impression he was going to be a great leader, and he became one after spending 13 years as a slave and in prison. Moses was to lead his people to the promised land and eventually he did, after wandering in the desert for 40 years! Or how about the guy mentioned in John 5:5? My guess is he prayed for a miracle every day for 38 years, finally met Jesus, and then his miracle happened. Even Jesus waited 30 years before leaving the carpentry shop to begin His mission.

What I’m getting at is this: God’s timing isn’t always our timing. That’s true whether you are waiting on tests results or waiting on a job interview or waiting for some promise of God’s to be fulfilled. Everyone knows, waiting is the hard part.

Waiting stinks, and patience is sometimes a fleeting virtue. While we wait, don’t stop holding on to the promises of God. Keep trusting as you wait. Waiting isn’t nothing. God is far more concerned with who we are becoming in our waiting than when the end of waiting happens. Trust Him in the waiting.
