Teach Your Children Well
November 3rd, 2025
Deuteronomy 6:1-9.
Some of the most interesting hours of my childhood were spent in listening to my dad’s stories. I didn’t realize it then, but he was pouring life lessons into my heart and mind. He often tied a spiritual/biblical concept into the stories he told me.
The children of our homes must move from the environment into which they were born to another environment, often quite unlike their own. What happens when we put our phones down and talk with our children? Here are three goals that can guide us as well as assist our children:
• Our faith stories can sharpen their critical thinking skills, connecting biblical truth with all of life.
• Our faith stories can demonstrate spiritual resilience, and help them acquire it early on.
• Our faith stories can help them navigate ever-changing situations.
The biblical reference reminds us that our task of teaching well exhibits a readiness to capture every opportunity for a lifelong advantage.
