Hold My Hand
October 30th, 2025
Isaiah 42:1-8.
When our children are younger, we guide them by demonstrating the way. We teach them to sit at the table for meals by doing so with them. We show them how to brush their teeth, put on their shoes, or care for pets by doing those things with them. When we cross a parking lot, we hold their hand and show them how to look for vehicles around us.
God is a lot like a parent guiding us, His children, in the way we should live. God gives instruction. God provides examples. God will even “take hold of your hand” and “keep you” “make you to be a covenant for the people” (v. 6). God goes with us as we learn to be a child of His kingdom.
We are not on our own. We are not expected to learn how to live as Christ-followers by ourselves. God calls us to righteousness and holds our hand as we move forward in His grace. As we focus on His guidance, we must place God first in our lives. All else is distraction from the guidance God gives.
Put God first in your life, hold tight to His hand, and walk forward in God’s grace.
