Cause and Effect

Deuteronomy 4:8-14.
There’s a popular children’s book about a common rodent and a classic sweet treat. The author explains that if the creature gets the treat, then they’re going to want to engage in a particular task, and after engaging in the task, the creature will have another request. The story continues in this manner until the creature asks for the same sweet treat that they enjoyed at the beginning.
It’s no secret that life is just like the rodent story. One thing leads to another. Every choice we make becomes the next step in an endless game of cause and effect.
Following Christ is a choice that must be made daily. Choosing Christ means that we choose to attempt to make godly decisions that produce godly results. We choose to do things in a such a way that it reflects the mind of Christ and encourages others to make Christ-like decisions. We endeavor to be examples to those around us. Our choices should paint a clear picture of the life we’ve chosen to live and whom we’ve chosen to follow.
Father, today help us to hear these familiar words in a fresh way. Help us to always choose You.
