We Can Rely On His Grace
October 19th, 2025
Hebrews 4:12-16.
The complete text we read today is one of great contrasts. Once we get past the stark reality of verse 13, after we’ve really sat on that for a while, we step into the greatest of hopes. All we are, all we do, and all we will do will be laid bare. We are indeed held to account for it all.
Yet, the pendulum swings the other way, and we are left to move on from this sobering thought to that of incredible hope and inspiration. Our very faith holds up in the fact that our great High Priest has passed through the heavens.
As we sit in the reality of all laid bare, we also sit in the contrast that this High Priest, Jesus, the Son of God is not unable to sympathize with our weaknesses.
Well, if that doesn’t take your breath away, I don’t know what will! We are starkly humbled by all things laid bare and equally humbled by the nearly incomprehensible reality that our Lord is able to sympathize with our weaknesses. The outcome? We may approach the throne of grace boldly.
The pendulum swings wide and with much grace for us this day.
