It’s Not Us, It’s His Grace
October 18th, 2025
Ephesians 2:1-10.
The reasoning or logic in the passage we read today is counterintuitive to all logic and reasoning. Let’s ponder this for a moment. We are the ones who are dead in our trespasses, and we have no remedy except to simply acknowledge those trespasses and accept the saving grace of God on them. There is nothing we can do on our own merit that leads to a full cleansing of sin in our lives.
It is God, not us, who is rich in mercy. Out of His great love, when we were dead in trespasses, God makes us alive! Yet not just any run of the mill “alive”; rather, alive with Christ! Friends, God raises us up in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus. What a deal! And how scandalous and unfair!
We live in a world of “just and unjust” thinking. This passage is not fair in the way we normally view fairness. Yet, because He is not only fair and just, we are a forgiven people.
Thank God our future is not in our works, but in His great grace.
