God Is Faithful

1 Corinthians 10:1-13.
Our key verse for today reminds me of a faithful saint in a local church I had the privilege to pastor. This dear friend would never cease to remind my wife and I of God’s unique provision and faithfulness in her life, our lives, and the life of Christ’s church. Older now in age, this dear woman of God almost never leaves us without saying, “God is faithful.”
Our friend reminds us of this after a long season of marriage in which her husband has already joined the ranks in heaven. She reminds us of this on early days in her life when her own mother took in laundry to make ends meet. She reminds us of this when times were difficult financially raising children. She reminds us of this when reflecting on her own good and poor choices. She reminds us of this in present days when she’s unable to attend her local church of over 60 years.
Today’s passage is about God’s provision and way out despite Israel’s sin and immorality. That is exactly why the emphasis is on God’s faithfulness. We begin in our humanity with the foundation that God is faithful.
