Seeking God In Trying Times

October 13th, 2025

Numbers 20:1-6.

If you had grown up in church in the 1970s, you may have sung a little ditty that likened salvation to “gumdrop holidays.” Lately, that tune came to mind, and got me thinking: 1) How did that song ever pass a theology test? and 2) The Christian life is not like “gumdrop holidays.”

God’s chosen people were not in a good spot. First, they were in the desert! Hot, no water, one of their major leaders (Miriam) had passed and was buried in a land not their own. Additionally, misery loves company, and the people were in serious complaining mode. What’s a person of God to do?

Moses and Aaron in their grief, in their humility, in their trust, left the presence of the people they loved for the presence of God, whom they loved even more. They sought Him on their faces, and the glory of the Lord appeared to them!

Are you facing life’s hurdles, hurts, and hang ups? Why not leave it for a moment and fall on your face before the King for a new perspective through this season?
