Consequences
October 10th, 2025
Numbers 14:20-30.
Moses, as we learned yesterday, stood in intercession between the Israelites and God. His request for compassion and forgiveness did not go unheard or unanswered. God was faithful and just. God loved His people. His mercy extended to the people of Israel, despite their lack of trust and obedience.
What great news that is for us to hear! Yet, our actions are not without consequences. The choices we make have repercussions; God’s faithfulness does not mitigate the consequences.
The Israelites who did not obey God’s command to enter the land would live, but never enter the land promised to them. They had missed their opportunity when they said “No.” The consequence stung, but the grace God gave afforded them life.
Reflect on your own life. What are some of the consequences (good and bad) that you have experienced from the choices you have made? Where can you detect God’s mercy in your life and still see the natural repercussions of your choices?
Take time to thank God for His grace in your life today.
