Lil’ Lights
October 2nd, 2025
Matthew 5:13-20.
Recently, a young, inquisitive, scientific mind asked, “If it was totally dark, would we be able to see color?” Of course, the answer is no. Science has proven that the way we see color is through the refracting of light. Without light, we see nothing but darkness.
If you’ve followed Christ for any extended time, you’ve probably heard the expression that we are to be a light in the darkness. If you grew up in church, you might even be familiar with a song about letting your light shine and not hiding it. Elsewhere in Scripture we’re told, “We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making his appeal through us” (2 Corinthians 5:20).
The world’s only hope is Jesus. It is the light of Christ that will help others find their way. It is our job as Christ-followers to be conduits of God’s grace. We are to help others see the color of God’s love despite the darkness of sin that engulfs the world. Even the smallest light shines and pierces the darkness. Every good work done in the name of Christ makes a difference.
Don’t ever let the enemy talk you out of shining God’s light.
