Stay Well

1 Timothy 3:1-13.

Isn’t it interesting how often we run into servants? They are everywhere. Public servants like first-responders are more than salaried employees. They are the first to run into burning buildings and toward gunfire. They cook our food, tend our elderly in care centers, and provide services we cannot do for ourselves. Obviously they are paid for their work. Yet, they are also serving others, providing a service in exchange for compensation.

Servanthood in the body of Christ largely represents the uncompensated volunteers, many of whom serve well at their own expense. As Christ-followers, they know that serving well is more than just exceeding the minimum requirements. Their service is a reflection of a personal embrace of the person and message of Jesus Christ.

Jesus recognized that every servant will eventually tire. Thus, He invited them to retreat with Him to invigorate their strength and capacity. With Him, they learned the secrets of spiritual fitness, and they find joy in all they do.
