God Is Looking at You

Number 6:22-27     

An individual who was looking at all the posts of his friends on social media reacted rather strongly to the word “blessed.” “Why do all these people keep saying, ‘I’m so blessed?'” he remarked. “They ought to be saying, ‘I worked hard; planned well, and now I’m reaping the rewards.'” That’s not, however, what a blessing means.

This is not to pick a fight with those who truly see the importance of effort, industry, and planning. In fact, believers can and do experience blessing when they work hard, and they are correct in attributing the fruits of their hard work to the Lord.

However, wages are the fruits of employment. Blessing, however, is the undeserved favor of grace, a new reality we experienced when we became a part of the body of Christ.

What other community exists with an invitation to experience real blessing along with that often elusive quality of lasting, deep-seated peace?
