Two Dimensions of Separation
September 16th, 2025
Leviticus 9:15-24.
My brother and I were born 23 months apart. Needless to say, we were close as brothers during our childhood years. Sometimes, according to our parents, we were too close. Our behavior would prompt a one-word command: Separate!
Biblical separation has often been caricatured by legalistic injunctions. While most believers know that we are enjoined in Scripture to be separate from the world, there is much more to this concept than rule-keeping.
Separation isn’t always about isolating oneself from the world around us. In reality, separation is an invitation to a community where purpose, commitment, and investment is marked by a greater blessing than the sum of the investment. Uniting with others in the body of Christ is an invitation to blessing. It is a separation from emptiness to wholeness and fullness.
The lack of separation may limit one’s potential to bestow God’s blessing where it is needed. Your ability to bless others is a quality badly needed in our challenging world. Allow God’s blessing to flow outward to others today.
