Do It Now

Leviticus 9:5-14.

When my son was in high school, he attended a church service where a missionary was the guest speaker. When he joined us following the service, he was almost ecstatic about the sermon. When asked what stood out to him, he said: “The preacher said the best line I’ve heard in a sermon: ‘Stop demanding your privileges, and start fulfilling your responsibilities.'”

The glory of the Lord always follows the obedience of God’s people. Leaders should possess the ability to do what they are supposed to do, even when it’s difficult or inconvenient. Good leaders will not allow the desire for privilege to outweigh their commitment to fulfilling the Lord’s commandment. Their motivation rests not on the table of privilege, but on the realization of God’s glory and approval.

The future is built on our determination to fulfill our responsibilities. The rewards of such behavior often erase the pain of our labor. Whether reward is delayed or experienced quickly, fulfillment of our responsibility is foremost.
