The Voice of the Lord
September 14th, 2025
Psalm 40:4-10.
As our relationship with Jesus grows deeper and more dependent on Him, we become more attuned to the will of God in our lives. We want to draw closer so that we can be in constant conversation with Jesus and understand His heart.
Verse 6 reminds us that it is not our deeds that catch the attention of God; sacrifices and burnt offerings are not required for us to know Him. Instead, we just need to listen to the voice of the Lord in our life to be close. It is faithfulness, confession, and gratitude that forms the base of our relationship that can deepen and sweeten over time.
As this closeness becomes routine and we understand more and more, it becomes impossible for us to keep quiet about the goodness and love we have in Christ. Verse 10 challenges us to proclaim the goodness of God as we encounter it daily, refusing to keep from shouting it to the world. We should not hide our gratitude but speak of it freely. It is a gift that we can give to the Lord as we sing the praises of the gifts given to us first.
