Talk to Each Other

September 11th, 2025

Leviticus 6:1-7.

The original definition of the word “reconciliation” simply meant “to talk to each other.” It was the beginning of a relationship restored, even if that meant just entering a conversation with someone you have been harmed by or whom you have harmed.

While our faith is personal, it is also relational. The way we treat each other matters, and that can then affect our relationship with the Lord. When we have caused harm to each other, we are not living in accordance with God’s laws and desires. It causes us to misstep in our relationships, because we are social beings in community with a social God. We do not live in a bubble untouched by the world.

These passages affirm to us and to the ancient Israelites that there is always a path to reconciliation. It may be uncomfortable, and it should cost us a great deal to make things right, but it is possible. God offers us this pathway to reconciliation so that we can talk to each other again.
