God’s Plan
September 8th, 2025
Genesis 3:17-24.
When Adam and Eve were removed from the Garden of Eden, Paradise, they were no longer able to live in blessed innocence. Instead, they became fully conscious that they were naked and unprotected from the world around them. Graciously, God provided them with animal skins before they were banished so they wouldn’t have to survive naked.
While these garments are a sign of God’s protection and care, they are also a visual sign of sin and death. The animals that had been Adam and Eve’s companions in the garden were killed to be their covering. It is a reminder that they could no longer go back to that closeness of walking with God through Eden. The consequences of their actions and the subsequent separation from the Lord would always be visible.
Today, our sin and separation from the Lord is not always visual. Often, the garments that we put on that represent the deviation from God’s plan are metaphorical, but they are still present—things like pride, greed, and gluttony that are not in alignment with the heart of the Divine.
What are those garments in your life? Where are places that you are out of step on your journey into the presence of the Lord?
