Jesus Is Lord

Matthew 28:16-20.
There is sometimes a stigma about doubt, as if it can be damaging to faith. However, doubt is something that all disciples go through. It is when we leave our doubts disconnected from our worship and devotion to Jesus that it can be damaging.
We are not told exactly why the disciples had their doubts. Perhaps it was because their whole life was changing, or they had trouble worshiping Jesus as Lord rather than just learning from Him as their Rabbi. Perhaps they doubted their own ability. After all, there were only 11 of them now; an obvious member was missing who had rejected the gospel!
What comforted doubting disciples were the authority and presence of Jesus. The authority given to Jesus gives us confidence to set our eyes on Him and tell others about Him. It is not that the church saves anyone, but we testify to the Savior. Our mission is to go in Jesus’ name, since all authority has been given to Him.
The presence of Jesus gives us guidance to do what Jesus asks. If we doubt our ability to witness, we can take comfort in the fact that the One with all authority is with the church by the Spirit.
