Care For Those God Gives Us

August 23rd, 2025

Psalm 127:1-5.

Children are always a blessing. You will find this throughout the Bible, from Genesis to Jesus, telling the children to come. Part of this blessing is responsibility. For those of us who are parents, it is our job to live out the love of God and to teach our children about God. We see our children each day, while our church only sees them a few times a week. It is not just the pastor’s job to teach our kids. The best way to teach them is by being faithful Christians. Kids learn by watching us.

Children are also a responsibility of the church community. When children are baptized, or dedicated in front of the church, the church family has accepted that child as their responsibility. Part of that responsibility might mean discomfort for the adults.

We remember in those moments that Jesus said to let the little children come to Him. We are called to help the parents in our community, to mentor our children, and to be a welcoming community for the young. We as the church remember that our children are watching us, and we model through our behavior how to live a faithful Christian life.
