Rewards of Faith-Filled Families

2 Timothy 1:1-7.      

The reward of a faith-filled family is faith-filled family members. Lois and Eunice’s faithful witness influenced the life of Timothy to the point that Paul called him a man of sincere faith. This does not mean that our family members do not have a choice. Rather this is talking about the impact of a Christian who lives out their faith so sincerely that even the people who are closest to them are changed.

The greatest influence we have is with the people we live with day to day. They see us at our best and at our worst. This is why ministers are often told that their first missional priority is to their family.

This passage also reminds us that we are responsible for our own faith. Even if our family members were faithful Christians, we are not automatically Christian. We must continue to work out our faith each day and live authentically into the Christian life.

This is a good reminder, especially for those who grew up going to church. We must decide whether the faith of our parents will become our faith. Thank God for the Loises and Eunices in our lives!
