Practice Your Faith with Family
August 21st, 2025
Acts 16:25-34.
The jailer faced the darkest moment in his life. After an earthquake, the jail had crumbled to pieces. Fearing the worst and knowing he would be held responsible for the escaped prisoners, he raised his sword to kill himself. In that moment, Paul and Silas cried out, stopping him. Sorrow was turned into joy. None of the prisoners had left!
Because Paul and Silas chose to stay instead of fleeing, the jailer came to know Christ. His entire family was saved through this encounter.
For those of us whose family came to know Christ later on, we have seen the transforming work of Christ in our families. We have witnessed and been a part of seeing God take our broken families and bring His healing power to them. God has brought life.
Often, witnessing to our families feels like singing into a dark prison cell. It feels hopeless and a lost cause. In those moments, we remember that we believe in the God who brings light to the dark parts. We trust that He is doing a work in our families, hoping for the day when we will worship together with them.
