Still Seek Wisdom
August 9th, 2025
Philippians 3:13-21.
Stefanie’s children are currently 17, 15, and 9. While she and her husband have experienced raising a child from age 0-16, each child brings a new personality, experiences, and opportunities for parents to be “on their toes.” And, of course, they are beginning to learn what it means to parent an older teen.
One thing I would say about children as they grow and mature is that they view things differently as they grow. Reflect on your own childhood: Was there a belief or understanding you embraced at eight that you reevaluated (or even discarded) at 16? Our perspectives are different as we age (after all, human brains aren’t completely mature until we hit our mid-20s!).
I think this can be true of our lives in Christ, too. Are there times when we have been so certain of our understanding of how the kingdom of God works and what God wants, only to find out later we weren’t exactly right? Paul so graciously wrote, “If on some point you think differently, that too God will make clear to you” (v. 15). He knew. We all have room to grow and mature.
With all the maturing that happens in our lives, we need to have grace, for ourselves and for others. Where can you show grace today?
