Eyes on the Road

Matthew 24:36-44.
Teaching my sons to drive wasn’t easy; I often found myself anxious and frustrated. I constantly reminded them to keep their eyes on the road, emphasizing the importance of being present and aware.
In our passage, Jesus urges us to maintain a similar focus in our lives. He speaks of the uncertainty surrounding His return, emphasizing that only the Father knows the exact timing.
Jesus encourages us to be vigilant and spiritually prepared, like a driver keeping watch for unexpected turns. He assures us that while we wait, we are to faithfully fulfill the tasks appointed to us each day. “Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come” (v. 42).
As we navigate life’s challenges and uncertainties, may we heed Jesus’ words: We must keep our eyes fixed on Him, live intentionally in the present, and faithfully do the work He has called us to. His kingdom will come in His perfect timing, and His will shall be accomplished. Let us trust Him to guide us through each moment, knowing that our readiness and faithfulness matter deeply to Him.
