Psalm 49:1-10.

When we lean on the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, then we are able to speak words of wisdom as well. Psalm 49 paints a picture that both the wise and the foolish will perish (v. 10). We can say foolish things, and we can acquire wealth, but death still comes for us.

Yet, we also see this message, that God is the one who redeems people, who rescues them, and is the reason we do not need to fear. When we trust in God, we can be people who share wisdom in confidence, without anxiety about the world around us.

The anxiety and the fear of the world can often lead us to say things that aren’t true, or that cause confusion. We can grasp anything to try and make sense of a world that makes us afraid and uncertain. We see people, or even become people who do this—making up untruths or rushing to foolish advice to make ourselves feel better.

However, when we are rooted in the sureness of God’s faithful love, we can speak wisdom and words of understanding, because we know that we don’t need to be afraid.
