Give Thanks!

Daniel 2:14-23        

Daniel spoke with wisdom and tact, sought clarity, and responded calmly to the king’s command to kill the wise counselors for their lack of insight into his dream. Daniel set the example for all of us in times of uncertainty. He sought wisdom from God rather than planning how to divert the disaster (of which he would have been included). He went to God and asked for wisdom and insight. When God answered his prayer, Daniel’s immediate response was that of praise and thanksgiving.

We must be diligent to give praise and glory to God when He provides wisdom. It is easy to take credit for ourselves. Yes, God used us and worked through us. We were obedient in our actions and speech, but the source is not us. The source lies in God’s unlimited wisdom and power. Let us be quick to give God the honor and glory that is rightfully His.

Regardless of how big or small the incident may be, we must be thankful when God provides wisdom. Even a wise word spoken in a conversation merits thankfulness for God’s provision. We are wise only through His power working in us (Ephesians 3:20).
