God’s Gift to Us

Ecclesiastes 2:17-26
Ecclesiastes 2 speaks of the futility of hard work. Why? For what purpose? If the results of all my hard work are to be given to another when I leave this life and there are no guarantees they will deal wisely with it, then why bother?
The perspective shifts to realizing that everything we have comes to us from the hand of God: possessions, food, pleasures of life. We can enjoy the results of our hard work when we acknowledge God’s generous giving of wisdom, knowledge, and happiness. When we recognize the true source of our labor (not ourselves, but God), we can enjoy His gifts and blessings, find contentment, and freely pass them on to others. We work and labor for God, not for ourselves alone.
Apart from God, our efforts are meaningless. Our wisdom and abilities are His gifts to us. Therefore, the results of our labor are not a reason to boast but to return praise and thanksgiving to God. Lasting satisfaction is not in accumulating
