Proverbs 11:24-31

Generosity and sharing are biblical principles found throughout Scripture. Generosity leads to blessing while hoarding leads to lack. While we usually associate generosity with material possessions, it extends into other areas of our lives, such as encouragement, skills, thankfulness, and sharing the gospel story.

Proverbs 11:30 uses a metaphor to compare righteousness to a tree of life (referenced in Genesis and Revelation). A green tree is symbolic of life and vitality. A wise person, a tree of life, saves lives. The salvation reference reflects the New Testament concept of salvation from sin and have a spiritual and life connotation.

The righteous person generously gives and produces life in others. Share the story of Jesus with those who do not know, encourage those who are ill or discouraged, and use talents and skills in the local church, in missions, or wherever you go.

The qualities of diligence, generosity, and righteousness are part of a successful life and find favor with God.
