Believe It

May 12th, 2025

Galatians 5:2-12

People actually believe that? Throughout my life, I’ve often wondered how people could believe some of the things they do. I’ve heard people say things like:

“The earth is flat.” “Elvis is alive.” “The moon landing never happened.” “Bigfoot lives in these woods.” “The dog ate my homework.” “Loch Ness has a monster in it.” “This spanking will hurt me more than you.” “Pro wrestling is real.”

It takes an awful lot of faith to believe some of the headlines we read. It takes a supernatural being to fully convince us of the truth. Apparently, we’re not the first generation of believers to have to confront folks with unrealistic expectations, conflicting thoughts, or contradicting perspectives in the church.

Among the adverse voices of myths, legends, folklore, and heresy, we learn to discern the biblical voices of truth and reason. This is especially true in the church. Naysayers try to pull the faithful from the flock; God’s Spirit restores real righteousness through genuine faith and hope.
