God’s Promise Is for Us
April 30th, 2025
Galatians 3:15-22
We invested in a kitchen herb grower with lights, water, and seed pods many years ago. The box came with all kinds of herbs and one cherry tomato pod. The herbs grew quickly, and we shared them with family and friends as they were abundant, but the cherry tomatoes never appeared. We noticed that they looked like basil and even tasted like basil. The manufacturer must have mislabeled the seeds.
A seed only grows into what it naturally is. When we read in Scripture that God spoke promises to Abraham and his seed, we recognize that the seed will be in Abraham’s nature. God planned that the promises of Abraham would be in Jesus, and, through faith, given to us.
As God promised Abraham, He blessed the world through Jesus, Abraham’s seed, from generation to generation. The beauty of the promise is that it goes beyond the physical descendants to the spiritual children of God. We go from orphans to children through faith in Jesus Christ. By believing in Jesus, we receive the promises and live according to the nature of God.
