Unity In Diversity
April 25th, 2025
Ephesians 4:1-7
Worthiness is a reciprocal term. In the context of life in the community of faith, it suggests a response characterizing the quality of the original Founder. Isn’t it refreshing that the commodity of the transaction is “worthiness,” and not “perfection?” Consider this: Worthiness is a purely personal term that reflects the grace we each have received.
What is the unity of the body in the face of such diversity? The apostle lays down the planks of unity that are non-replaceable and nonnegotiable: One Lord, one faith, and one baptism. Here is the purity of the gospel!
Above, the grace of Christ, so extravagantly measured out to each member, was cited. There, the context reflected our responses of worthiness in lifestyles. The reach of grace is measured by the width of its inclusion as well as the depth of its extent. Grace upon grace, said the apostle John, and our unity is in that treasure so freely given by Christ Jesus.
