Resurrection Stories

Romans 6:11-18

Have you ever watched a new believer, heart-deep in the excitement of their encounter with Jesus? One of those “new believers” stood in the church and shared the story of his conversion to Jesus Christ. After moving the audience between laughter and tears, he concluded by saying, “I’m a fanatic for Jesus, and plan on gettin’ worse!”

Romans 6 reminds us of three terrific truths. First, you are alive to God. God sees you and beams with admiration because He knows you by name. You are not a statistic to God.

Second, you have a “resurrection story” to tell. All of our stories are different. However, each of our stories is a narrative of our encounter with Christ. You are living proof of His life-changing love. However, it doesn’t just end with your own story.

Third, your life has been captured by a new allegiance. The bells of freedom ring loudly in your heart when you remember Jesus delivered you from your old way of life. The darkness within gave way to the light of the world. The dead ends remarkably opened to new roads and new destinations.
