At The Right Hand of God

1 Peter 3:15-22
If you could have lunch with someone from the past, who would it be? This is a question that really makes me think. Usually, biblical figures like Moses and Paul come to mind, as well as historical figures like Abraham Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. Needless to say, although it is interesting to ponder, it is ultimately fruitless because they are no longer living and unable to speak to us.
The people Peter was writing to would experience suffering in the form of slander. Peter told the people not to fear, but instead to center their attention on Christ (vv. 14-15). He pointed out that Christ suffered on the cross, but was resurrected, and now sits at the right hand of God—victorious over all.
We serve a risen Savior. He is not a historical figure from long ago, one who no longer lives and is unavailable. Jesus is alive! He has triumphed over sin and death. His power and presence is available 24/7. Regardless of what kind of suffering you may be experiencing right now, remember, you are not alone: Jesus is alive and accessible.
