Restoration Through Believing God
April 10th, 2025
John 11:38-45
We all have a past. In that past, there are things we did that we feel good about and things we did that we don’t feel good about. Those things, both good and bad, shape us in one way or another.
Lazarus was dead. He had been dead for four days. Jesus, ready to call forth Lazarus, called for the stone to be rolled away. Martha interrupted and called out, “Lord, he’s dead, he’s decomposing, he’ll stink!” However, Jesus proclaimed that this was for God’s glory, and He called Lazarus to come out, and Lazarus walked out of the tomb!
God invites everyone to come forth and receive spiritual life (3:16). Yet, for some, their past keeps them from allowing God to raise them to spiritual life; many think their life “stinks” too much for God to work a miracle. Even as believers, we often allow our past to keep us from being all God calls us to be.
The good news is that regardless of what we have done, God can and does bring new life.
May we allow God to roll away the stone and do a mighty work in our lives for His glory.
