From Physical to Spiritual
March 25th, 2025
John 14:8-14
The first time I went to a barbershop by myself, when asked how I wanted the haircut, I responded that I wanted a haircut just like my father. The barber then asked who my father was. I felt embarrassed, and sheepishly just said I wanted it short. I thought they surely would recognize me, but it was too late.
That must have been how Jesus felt when the disciples asked Him to show the Father. Certainly, they had seen enough to recognize the Father in Jesus, but there lay the problem: The disciples did not see the Person Jesus truly is. Once they recognized the Father in Jesus, they could move beyond the physical to the spiritual.
It is easy to perceive the things of this world with our five senses. Jesus challenges us to believe beyond our senses, to allow our heart and soul to recognize Him and believe. It takes faith. However faith will bring the authentic presence of Christ, and we will see miracles.
We are challenged to pray as we recognize the Father in Jesus, and as we believe, we ask and He answers.
