Light and Life

John 8:12-20
I can’t imagine anything much more horrifying than getting stranded in a cave with no lights and rising water blocking the way out. Such was the plight of 13 Thai youths and their 25-year-old assistant coach in 2018. It took two weeks and more than a hundred expert divers to locate them and bring them to safety.
Light, what a wonderful, amazing gift! When Jesus said, “I am the light of the world,” the Pharisees argued with Him. Once you have had your spiritual eyes opened to Jesus, you know it is true.
One of the properties of light is that it exposes the reality of everything around us. There are no dead ends when we follow Jesus. He leads even in the darkest times. His light brings comfort, hope, and joy.
The handheld light of the first diver brought hope to the fearful youths. There was hope of a way back to the world of light. Jesus life, death, and resurrection have provided us with a way that leads to heavenly light and life. Shall we follow Him?

amen amen. He is indeed the light of the world.
I was dead in sin but He brought me back to life from darkness into the light.
This brings to mind Philippians 2:14-15: Do all things without murmuring and arguing, so that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation, in which you shine like stars in the world”.
We too are too shine like stars! Because He is light we are light as well to those around us.
