God Knows Best

Proverbs 3:1-8
You walk in the front door. It hits you . . . that smell. So many thoughts flood your nose with choking curiosity. You wonder if you’d done something wrong. You wonder if you’re being punished. You wonder what may have died. You wonder if that’s what evil smells like. Sadly, you realize that someone who cares very much about you has, for some reason, done the unthinkable. They’ve prepared a meal for you that you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy. They have expressed their love for you and your family by preparing your worst version of “nourishment.” You consider fasting, but you know better.
To trust in yourself more than you trust in God is the definition of being “wise in your own eyes.” To “trust in the LORD with all your heart” and submit to Him is the definition of fearing the Lord.
By avoiding evil and fearing the Lord, you may find that you don’t, at first, want whatever He’s serving you. It’s not about your preferences; it’s all about what God knows your soul (and your body and bones) needs for nourishment. Trust God enough to digest what He serves you today, knowing it’s what’s best for you.
