Eternal Life Today

March 1st, 2025

Hebrews 1:11-15

You circled the date on the calendar. You planned for all the contingencies. You made all the arrangements, taking care of all the details necessary for your trip to be a success. Then something happened. Your timeline changed. Your plans and preparation had to adjust to the new timeline. As if that wasn’t bad enough, that whole process kept repeating itself. Finally, the wait was over. The promised trip happened. The preparation became the event that became a great memory.

That’s what it was like to be a Hebrew before Jesus the Messiah finally came and set the captives free. The promise made became the promise kept.

Now we have a new promise, a new covenant, and a new expectation to look forward to. For all of it, we have Jesus to thank. Under the old covenant, animal sacrifice was required for forgiveness. Under the new covenant, Jesus became the only “unblemished” sacrifice necessary for us to receive our “eternal inheritance.”

The good news is we don’t have to wait. Our eternal life can begin today.
