Nothing Is Wasted

John 6:8-15
My resume is a bit eclectic. At times, this has bothered me. I’ve felt like a jack-of-all-trades and master of none. When I start to feel that I lack traction or have an experience to randomly be useful to God and the kingdom, I recall a bit of wisdom I learned from a professor: God doesn’t waste anything.
This story is one of my favorites: It shows the abundant works of God, the importance of gratitude, and God’s compassionate care for humanity. We marvel at Jesus taking a simple lunch for a child and turning it into a meal for thousands—with leftovers! Have we considered that Jesus’ command to gather up the leftovers wasn’t to show how much He could do, but that nothing is wasted with God (even leftovers)?
Think about the journey you’ve taken in life. What experiences do you have that you aren’t sure God can use? Even if it doesn’t seem useful, God wastes nothing in the building of His kingdom.
