2 Corinthians 6:1-13
Already great friends, we ended up at the same college as freshmen. We went out one evening on one of our fun “dates” when I was suddenly overwhelmed with emotion, realizing I had stronger feelings for her than mere friendship. Assuming she could never reciprocate, I offered to take her back to her dorm, but she persuaded me to explain my thoughts. We’ve now been married for more than four decades. I’m so thankful she accepted me, and I’m so grateful Christ does the same.
Paul says that in Christ all distinctions are removed. Whenever a Gentile or Jew, an circumcised or uncircumcised person, a barbarian, a Scythian, or a slave or free person becomes a believer, that person is a “new creation” (see 2 Corinthians 5:17), for “Christ is all, and is in all” (Colossians 3:11).
All barriers are destroyed in Christ, and all believers are created equal. “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. . . . Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts.
