Exposed To The Light
January 29th, 2025
John 3:16-21
It’s amazing what you find when you get a new washing machine. Ours broke this week and we were unable to repair it, so we had to find a new one. When we pulled the old machine out of its slot in the laundry room, we found a couple of things that hadn’t seen the light of day in years.
We found a handful of change, a guitar pick or two, and a sock we had given up on finding the match four months ago. We saw a couple spider webs whose occupants scurried from the light, lest they be exposed and exterminated. We also saw a decent amount of dust and dirt.
Light exposes dirt. Shine a light underneath the couch or behind the washing machine, and the dirt can’t hide. So it is when the Light of the world shines in our lives. Sometimes we fear the Light because we’re ashamed of the mess He exposes.
The only way to be rid of the dirt and the darkness-dwelling pests in our lives is to expose them to the Light. It’s messy. It’s ugly. It’s not fun to look at. However, once it is exposed, Jesus can deal with it.

Amen, He is the light of the world! Father, I am so sorry for my sins. I thank you Jesus that you have exposed my sin. Thank you that I will no longer live in hiding, but now that it’s exposed, you will help me deal with it. I praise your Holy Name!
