Joy In His Presence

Psalm 16:1-11
Psalm 16 is a beautiful psalm of David. David describes how God leads and instructs him, even at night. His heart and body rejoice and rest secure in the Lord; David was confident that he would experience God’s eternal presence.
Yet, David could not experience the fullness of all he described because he lived in anticipation of the Messiah. How much fuller and richer is this psalm to us today! We can experience the fullness and joy of God’s presence, not just in eternity but also by the Holy Spirit’s presence with us daily.
Forsaking all the idols that distract us from following God, we find God to be all we need. The Holy Spirit leads, guides, and instructs us not only when the sun is up but around the clock, never resting from His work within us. Our whole beings (body, soul, heart) can rest secure in the Lord.
While we experience in part God’s presence now, we look forward to the eternal pleasures of God’s presence.
