John 20:24-31
Have you ever considered how different the world would be without the Bible? I have seen little glimpses of this when talking with Bible translators who try to share the gospel of Christ with people groups who have no written language and, therefore, no Bible. We even see a bit of this in the postmodern world today. Many people believe that the Bible is just one of many possible truths.
However, the apostle John wanted us to know that he wrote his account of the gospel for the express purpose that those who read it would believe that Jesus is the Messiah, and that by believing in His name, they might have life. While we recognize the inspiration of the Holy Spirit involved in the writing, John focused on giving evidence that Jesus is the Messiah.
I often treat the Bible as if it were any other book. Yet every time I read God’s Word, the Holy Spirit moves to reveal another aspect of God’s character or another level of knowing Christ. What a blessing to have God’s written word as evidence of the reality of God.
