Remember What God Has Done

John 2:14-25

Too often in my life, I have heard the words of the Lord in Scripture or sensed His leading in my spirit but have been unable to apply or understand what God was doing. Later on, at the right time, God works in such a way as to reveal His meaning from the earlier messages. Then I remember, “Oh, so that was what God was doing!”

The disciples experienced the same thing. They heard Jesus’ words about the temple being raised up in three days, but they had no context in which to interpret and understand those words. It would have been easy for them to let these words slide away from their memories. However, later, when Jesus rose from the dead, they could see how the words were fulfilled and understood the meaning behind them.

The critical thing to remember is . . . to remember. We have to keep God’s words in our hearts and minds. We need to be prepared to see what He is doing through the light of what He has done and said in the past.
